MAGID MAGID

26/06/1989 - Sheffield/London

Magid Magid’s work interrogates power, resistance, and belonging, informed by his experiences as a Somali-born refugee, an elected politician and a cultural provocateur. Working across performance, sculpture, and socially engaged practices, his art invites audiences to question societal hierarchies and participate in reimagining a more inclusive and just world.

Magid’s practice combines bold physical gestures with accessible, tangible forms, ensuring his work resonates with a wide audience. Materials, locations, and interactions are carefully chosen to ground abstract themes in lived realities, transforming his art into a space for reflection and shared dialogue. His approach prioritises collaboration and inclusivity, creating works that provoke, connect, and inspire.

A graduate of Goldsmiths College with an MA in Art & Politics, Magid situates his practice at the intersection of personal and political narratives. By challenging traditional hierarchies and reframing power as a collective and dynamic force, his work resists conventions of both art and authority.

Through provocative yet accessible creations, Magid seeks to foster connection and resilience. His art aims not only to challenge but to leave audiences with a renewed sense of agency, hope, and possibility.
